ENGLEWOOD — Englewood Bank & Trust has expanded service to Venice and opened a loan processing office there on March 4.
Gary Kinnear, vice president and market executive for EB&T, is overseeing operations at the new office, which will provide loans covering business, commercial real estate and commercial vehicles and equipment. It will also offer small business lending and lines of credit.
“We have money to lend around and we wanted to test the Venice market,” Kinnear said. “Our knowledge of the local market helps people make quick decisions.”
Lane Diedrick, president of EB&T, said the process is more streamlined to be a loan process office than a full-service office.
“There’s a demand for loan services,” Diedrick said. “We’ve got a good feel (about the market) based on loan activities. We’ve been extending loans in Venice for quite a few years.”
Kinnear said hightouch service, easy accessibility and interaction with staff will set EB&T apart from other lenders.
“We joined the (Venice) chamber of commerce and made my face known,” Kinnear said. “I’m being an ambassador as well as a lender.”
Diedrick said despite heavy regulation in the banking industry and a number of local community banks stopping operations, he is optimistic about the expansion.
“Economic conditions have changed,” he said. “If you’re going to be in the business, you have to be adaptable. We have tremendous support from our clients and partners. I’m a glass half-full person.”
“We’re looking forward to being active in the community,” Kinnear added.
