Second Manasota Mystique slated

Don Musilli may not have been at the first Manasota Mystique, but he said he plans to make the second one just as memorable.

“(The first event) was successful despite being put together quickly,” said Musilli, executive director of the Englewood-Cape Haze Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Manasota Mystique has become the chamber’s signature event.”

The Second Annual Manasota Mystique will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Manasota Beach Club, 7660 Manasota Key Road, Englewood. The event will benefit the chamber’s capital campaign and the Englewood Community Care Clinic, according to Sue Atamanchuk, owner of Lock ’N Key Restaurant and a member of the Manasota Mystique committee. The all-volunteer, nonprofit ECCC operates two nights a week and accepts walk-in patients.

Lock ’N Key and Farlow’s on the Water will provide catering for the event.

“Our theme this year is Moonlight Masquerade,” Atamanchuk said. “We were just throwing some ideas around (this year). There’s supposed to be a full moon around the time of the event.”

Entertainment will be provided by the Tropical Ave. Band, playing a variety of R&B, top 40 dance, Latin, rock and island music.

“We had a committee to determine (the) theme and advertising,” Musilli said. “I think (planning) flowed and (was more) relaxed this year.”

There will be an open bar, and silent and live auctions. Sponsorships are available. Admission is $125, and is open to the public. Space is limited. Masks will be provided.

“The event supports a great cause in (the) Englewood Community Care Clinic,” Musilli said. “I think it’s an opportunity for the community to show support for the chamber and (causes) it supports.”
